FAQ

 What is a dahabeya?

A dahabeya (also spelled dahabiyyah) is a traditional Egyptian sailing vessel, used for thousands of years as a sacred and practical way to move along the Nile. Cleopatra sailed on dahabeyas. Ancient priestesses and priests used them as floating temples. Per Ba Merkaba is a modern luxury dahabeya—blending traditional sacred design with contemporary comfort and safety.

Where is Per Ba Merkaba located?

A: The vessel sails between Luxor and Aswan on the Nile River in Egypt. It’s not a permanent dock; it’s a working vessel that navigates the river, following the Nile’s seasonal patterns and your journey’s needs.

 How large is the vessel?

Per Ba accommodates 24 guests maximum across 12 private cabins. It’s intimate by design—large enough for meaningful community, small enough for genuine connection and sacred space.

Is Per Ba accessible for people with mobility challenges?

The vessel is a traditional dahabeya with some stairs and deck transitions. If you have specific accessibility needs, contact us directly to discuss possible accommodations and solutions.

What if my group has special dietary needs?

We handle it. Vegan, gluten-free, allergies, religious restrictions—we coordinate with your participants in advance and our kitchen accommodates all needs. Egyptian food is naturally plant-forward; we work beautifully with most dietary practices.

How far in advance should I book?

We recommend 3-6 months for popular dates (September-April). Off-season dates can sometimes be booked with less notice. The earlier you book, the more flexibility you have in planning.

What if I want to build a long-term partnership with Per Ba?

We’re interested in ongoing partnerships with leaders we align with. Let’s talk about making this an annual or bi-annual journey.
